Vikazimut

Developed by students from ENSI Caen and the University of Caen Normandy, Vikazimut is an app that lets you create orienteering routes for sports or tourism.

The app provides a map of the suggested route and records the GPS track and checkpoint passage times. Checkpoints can be validated using QR codes, iBeacons, or NFC tags if the route is equipped with physical markers, or automatically based on GPS location. Data from the completed route can then be sent to the server for analysis of the track and passage times, as well as comparison with other orienteers.

The app has been translated and is used in 6 European countries. It supports over 1,700 courses and is used by the French national mountain bike orienteering team.
